POSITION OBJECTIVE:
This position provides individual assessment; short term focused psychotherapeutic intervention and therapeutic outcome evaluation to the acute Adult population. Using a variety of treatment modalities, the successful candidate will be skilled in providing integrated clinical best practice therapies with clients living with mental health issues, inclusive of trauma and concurrent disorders. The successful candidate will be proficient in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and a sound working knowledge of Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Approach. The successful candidate will provide therapeutic interventions in a group setting with some individual therapy. The successful candidate will work effectively on an independent basis and work collaboratively within the inter-professional team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Masters in Social Work required.
o Registered with the College of Social Workers required.
o A minimum of two years' experience in the past 5 years providing therapy and treatment with the adult outpatient mental health population.
o Certification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.
o Strong clinical experience working with individuals living with trauma and concurrent disorders.
o Current SMG (Safe Management Group) or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.
o Demonstrated experience in facilitating and co-facilitating psychotherapeutic groups.
o Demonstrated knowledge of Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the OCSWSSW.
o Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
o Demonstrated ability to set clear boundaries with complex patients
o Demonstrated commitment to professional development, ongoing education and integration of research into clinical practice.
o Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive mental health assessments (including mental status examination and risk assessment).
o Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.
o Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral/written communication skills.
o Ability to foster collaborative working relationships.
o Working knowledge of formal and informal community services and resources within Niagara Region.
o Able to work both independently and as part of the inter-professional team.
o Applies Niagara Health values, professional practice standards, recovery/client-centred philosophy to patient care and service.
o Must be willing to work flexible hours (including evening hours) to reflect patient population needs.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
