LOCATION: ST. CATHARINES SITE
HOURS OF WORK: APPROX. 15 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD, ALTERNATE SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS, 0900-1700
POSTING DATE: 20 March 2020
CLOSING DATE: 26 March 2020
UNION: SERVICE EMPLOYEE'S INTERNATIONAL UNION-CLERICAL
WAGE RANGE: $22.568 to $24.201 PER HOUR
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
As a member of the patient care team, the Ward Clerk works under the direction of the Clinical Manager or delegate and fulfills a variety of functions including clerical, reception, registration, public relations, and bookings. Shift rotations are subject to change.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Graduate of a Medical Office Administration Program or Medical Terminology Certificate or equivalent in related experience
o Working experience transcribing and/or understanding/utilizing medical terminology
o One year related clerical experience in a high volume, fast paced department within a health care/clinical setting
o One year experience with computer software including Microsoft Office programs, with data entry experience
o Accurate keyboarding skills with a minimum of 50 w.p.m.
o Experience in order entry/Meditech
o Experience and efficiency in transcribing physician orders
o Experience in completing payroll, timesheets and scheduling staff
o Demonstrated commitment to patient/client centred care
o Excellent communication skills and ability to respect the confidentially of personnel and patient information
o Compliance with confidential requirements under the Niagara Health Privacy Policy
o Demonstrated professional attitude while interacting with the public, patients, employees and medical staff
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
o Consistent and regular attendance required
