HOURS OF WORK: 75 HOURS PER PAY PERIOD

WAGE RANGE: 50.590 to 57.670
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Working to promote clinical excellence, quality patient/client-centered care and high professional standards, the Nurse Practitioner will work as a member of the interdisciplinary Health Care Team using clinical expertise and in-depth knowledge of disease processes and related issues to plan patient care and evaluate clinical practice across the care continuum. The successful candidate will provide Primary Care with an emphasis on wellness and disease prevention to all age groups through direct patient care, health promotion and education, outreach, advocacy and community development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Completion of Nurse Practitioner Program and Master in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing.
o Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario - Extended Class (RN(EC)); Nurse Practitioner - Adult (NP - Adult) or Nurse Practitioner - Primary Health Care (NP-PHC) Primary Care (PC).
o Current certification in BCLS.
o Applies knowledge, skills and judgment to meet nurse practitioner practice standards of the CNO.
o Recent geriatric, Emergency, primary care or acute care (RN or RN-EC) experience within the past 3 years.
o Excellent clinical skills with all age groups (newborns to senior).
o Skill set inclusive of IV initiation, suturing, venipuncture, slit lamp exam, ECG and arrhythmia interpretation
o ACLS & PALS preferred
o Demonstrated clinical leadership skills to organize and co-ordinate the care of patients in collaboration with their care givers.
o Demonstrated skill in program development using a collaborative, stakeholder engaged process
o Proven success in providing inspirational leadership in a team environment and ability to encourage innovation and creativity amongst team members required
o Ability to be self-directed in clinical practice as required in the areas of assessment, diagnosis and therapeutics
o Ability to promote professional education and advance knowledge through research and the evaluation/quality improvement activities related to the care of patients throughout the continuum
o Applies Niagara Health values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service
o Demonstrated commitment to patient/client centred care
o Strong analytical and conceptual skills required
o Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Niagara Health
o Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe practice as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
o Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education and relevant practical experience in problem solving
o Must be willing to work flexible hours to reflect patient population needs
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset
o Consistent and regular attendance required
