UNION: SERVICE EMPLOYEE'S INTERNATIONAL UNION-CLERICAL
WAGE RANGE: $21.603 TO $23.167 PER HOUR

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
As a member of the patient care team, the Ward Clerk works under the direction of the Clinical Manager or delegate and fulfills a variety of functions including clerical, reception, public relations, and bookings. Shift rotations are subject to change.

QUALIFICATIONS:
o Graduate of a Medical Office Administration Program or Medical Terminology Course.
o Work experience transcribing and or understanding/utilizing medical terminology
o One year recent experience with computer software including Microsoft Office programs, with data entry experience
o Accurate keyboarding skills with a minimum of 45 w.p.m.
o Experience in order entry/Meditech
o Experience and efficiency in transcribing physician orders
o Experience in completing payroll, timesheets and scheduling staff
o Demonstrated commitment to patient/client centred care
o Excellent communication skills and ability to respect the confidentially of personnel and patient information
o Compliance with confidential requirements under the Niagara Health System Privacy Policy
o Demonstrated professional attitude while interacting with the public, patients, employees and medical staff
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays
o Consistent and regular attendance required
