POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Clinical Leader -Professional Practice (CL) is a member of the Professional Practice Program leadership team. The CL will participate in planning and implementing key strategic quality improvement projects and strategic plan initiatives such as Safe Exchange of Information and Unit-Based Teams to advance corporate clinical care priorities and best practices. The CL will have management responsibilities related to daily operations, scheduling, budget management, recruitment, and performance management within the Professional Practice Program.
The CL will provide professional practice expertise and leadership throughout Niagara Health with a focus on extraordinary caring through knowledge translation, people/change management expertise, and clinical staff development. The CL will collaborate and build strong relationships with Patient Care Directors, Patient Care Managers, Clinical Leaders, Nurse Educators, other nursing and hospital leaders, to support and engage nurses and interprofessional team members throughout the organization in the delivery of interprofessional, quality patient care and excellence in professional practice.
The CL is responsible for advocating for and shaping extraordinary patient care in an interprofessional environment. The successful candidate will participate in the development and implementation of a vision and framework for professional practice that encourages accountability, mutual respect, shared planning, cooperation, shared experience and decision making. The successful candidate will work to promote quality care through: clinical excellence, professional practice, partnerships, interprofessional collaboration, and effective human resources utilization.
The CL will facilitate, coordinate and consult on corporate wide clinical policy development to support extraordinary care. The CL will provide leadership for various Professional Practice corporate committees, such as the Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) Committee. Collaborating with the Director Nursing Professional Practice & Elder Care, Human Resources, and Finance, the CL will oversee MOHLTC funded initiatives such as the Nursing Graduate Guarantee, Late Career Nurse Initiative, and the Critical Care Nurse Training Fund.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Current registration as a Regulated Health Professional, in good standing with the respective Regulatory College
o Baccalaureate Degree in a health-related discipline
o Master's degree in a health-related discipline, Adult Education, Business Administration, Health Management, or other related field of expertise
o Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in an acute care setting
o Minimum 2-3 years formal management/leadership experience
o Demonstrated knowledge translation skills to implement evidence-based practices
o Demonstrated proficiency with program development and implementation, project and change management, and evaluation
o Committed to excellence in all elements of professional practice, including excellence in patient care processes, measuring outcomes, collaboration, and professional growth through education and research utilization
o Demonstrated experience with quality improvement strategies and methodologies
o Superior interpersonal and leadership skills including but not limited to; critical thinking, communication, responsiveness, conflict resolution, people management, change management, visionary thinking, organizational skills, effective customer service, decision-making skills and problem solving
o Demonstrated conflict resolution and organizational skills
o Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of the Professional Practice team
o Demonstrated ability to manage a large/diversified workload with rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines
o Computer skills in all Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook and a willingness to explore other computer applications to achieve professional practice objectives
o Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
o Demonstrated commitment to the vision, mission and values of Niagara Health
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
