POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Reporting to Manager, Laboratory and the Laboratory Medicine Program Leadership, the Administrative Assistant Laboratory will be responsible for providing administrative support to the St. Catharines Site Laboratory and to the Laboratory Medicine program. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the flow of information, documents and physician consults into the program and assigning priorities to office work; ensuring urgent matters are brought to the attention of the program Manager/Chief/Director or team in a timely manner; processing a variety of program documents, correspondence, reports, quality data, developed policies and presentations. The successful candidate will also complete a variety of functions related to clerical, reception and communication. As an Administrative Assistant you must be able to work flexible hours and travel and work at each of the Niagara Health sites as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Certificate or Diploma in Office Administration or equivalent
o Three to five years recent office administration experience.
o Recent experience in or familiarity with Laboratory Medicine program
o Knowledge of medical terminology.
o Excellent working knowledge of Meditech, Microsoft applications, Sharepoint, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator) and document design
o Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload with often rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines
o Excellent written communication, proofreading and editing, and minute taking skills
o Excellent oral communication and interpersonal/customer service skills and problem solving ability
o Superior organizational skills
o Evidence of effective organization, interpersonal, communication, judgement and decision making skills
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
o Consistent and regular attendance required
