POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The Arts in Medicine Coordinator is a highly motivated person who is able to incorporate a variety of arts and wellness practices into the promotion of whole person healthcare. The purpose of this role is to provide arts and wellness related services for cancer patients and staff, as well as leadership in the development and implementation of arts in medicine programming in the Walker Family Cancer Centre (WFCC) at Niagara Health.
As a member of the Supportive Care team, the Coordinator will establish continuous and on-going arts programming, develop and execute qualitative research for improvement of the WFCC patient experience, collaborate with community partners to promote arts in medicine and work with schools, colleges and universities to develop curriculum and workshops related to arts in medicine/whole person healthcare. Additionally, the Arts in Medicine Coordinator will participate in or lead other activities designed to improve the patient experience. This role requires collaboration with Nurses, Allied Healthcare providers, Spiritual Care, Primary Care and community based arts and wellness service providers, such as artists, art centres, and local government agencies. Collaboration is also essential with Niagara Health Managers, Educators, policy makers and Administrative decision makers to improve the patient experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Masters degree in music or arts related field.
o Minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership role, with an ability to lead groups.
o Demonstrated ability in delivering/evaluating (arts) programming to achieve best practices and optimal outcomes for patient experience.
o Demonstrated ability to work in a consultative role with members of an inter-professional team.
o Evidence of critical thinking, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
o Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt positively to constantly changing clinical situations.
o Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change.
o Demonstrated ability and skill related to event planning.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
